Mrs. Norris has been a school counselor for 23 years and has been in three school districts - Cecil County (MD) Public Schools (9 years), the School District of Lancaster (4 years), and Columbia Borough School District (10 years). She has served as an elementary counselor, an emotional support counselor, a Special Education Consultant, a Curriculum Leader for Special Education, and School Counselors K-12. In the 2015-16 school year, she has served as the middle school (grades 5-8) counselor for the Columbia Middle School - Taylor Campus and the Hill Campus. As well as serve as the high school emotional support counselor and Curriculum Leader for Special Education and School Counselors K-12.
Has earned a B. S. Ed, in Communicative Disorders from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and an M. Ed. in School Counseling from the University of Delaware. She has completed all of the coursework for her doctorate in Pupil Services Leadership at Widener University, however, she needs to complete her dissertation. Mrs. Norris has also completed administrative course work at Loyola College of Maryland and College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
Certified in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the following areas: Speech Correction, Elementary School Counselor, Supervisory Pupil Personnel Services, PK-12 School Counselor, and Principal K-12. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is required to participate in 30 hours of Continuing Education every 2 years to maintain that license. In addition, she has to participate in 180 hours of continuing education to maintain her teaching certificate. Mrs. Norris is nationally certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors as a National Certified Counselor and a National Certified School Counselor. She is required to complete 100 hours of professional development every 5 years to maintain these certifications with 25 hours specific to school counseling.
Mrs. Norris is a recent widow with 2 children - Chuck (deceased) and Joanna. She enjoys traveling, gardening, and reading. Mrs. Norris has been in 48 of the 50 states and collects magnets wherever she goes. Just visit either one of her offices to see the collection. Mrs. Norris also loves dolphins and football. In the summer and on weekends, Mrs. Norris travels with family members as well as her daughter.
